Plumbers install and repair pipe-based systems for water, sewage, and drainage. These systems are typically in homes or small buildings. Plumbers work with copper, steel, and plastic pipes using gauges, sensors, hacksaws, pipe benders, and wrenches. Plumbers need to be licensed, usually following a four- to five-year apprenticeship, and possess problem-solving ability, physical strength/stamina, mechanical skills, and good interpersonal skills for work in homes.
