CNC machinists set up and manage computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines that cut, grind, and drill. The parts are typically produced from metal or plastic, and they are used in medical, aerospace, and other precision applications. CNC machinists nearly always work inside of a factory. A one-year certificate or two-year degree is normally required in order to develop skills to operate the machine and interpret technical drawings/plans.
