Job Description

Responsible for repairing all assigned vehicles. Damaged vehicles should be restored to pre-accident condition, following the written repair order.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Approach repair planning with a sense of urgency and detail to avoid waste and rework later in the process. De-trim and disassemble vehicles, putting parts on parts carts. Perform pre-pulls to make repair vs. replace decisions.
• Assist in identifying and sourcing parts as necessary. Use good judgment to determine when damaged parts can be safely repaired for cost and cycle-time savings. Help maintain parts / materials carts in an organized manner.
• Know the status of assigned vehicles and be open to others’ feedback on getting and keeping vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery. Help problem-solve on vehicles assigned to other team members.
• Perform quality repairs without passing on defects. Meet or exceed Palmer Body Shop's requirements for productivity as measured by hours per day for each repair order. Follow all quality control processes and meet the return rate target.
• Consistently utilize all required safety equipment and follow proper repair procedures. Adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal. Keep personal work area organized and returns tools, materials and equipment to designated areas.

Minimum Years of Experience

Knowledge of manufacturers’ repair processes & adherence to our collision technical repair processes. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Minnesota Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsements. Must maintain once acquired: Knowledge of MNDOT inspection requirements. Able to use frame and measuring equipment per vendor procedures. Written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills are essential. Welding experience preferred. Able to communicate effectively at all levels. Able to kneel, bend, squat and stoop for extended periods of time to complete or inspect repairs. Must have good manual dexterity and eye / hand coordination to operate equipment. Able to perform repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion. Able to wear protective equipment, including respirator.
