Job Description

Operate CNC machines and create programs and related documentation in a safe manner to produce parts that meet Graco quality requirements at the lowest cost in a timely manner while minimizing waste of materials and resources. In addition, perform additional tasks in the area of engineering, material management, CNC programming, and CMM inspection. Also perform engineering tasks and complete material orders.

We are looking for a first shift Machinist (Monday-Friday, 6am-2pm).

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Involved with and performs pre-production and program prove-outs related to changes in new products and tooling.
  • Can identify and load inspection procedures.
  • Reviews, updates and writes operation documentation. Makes recommendations to engineers on process improvements.
  • Continuously reviews and updates processes to improve cost and quality of Graco product.
  • Provides training and assistance to other operators.
  • Set-up, adjust and operate a variety/majority of CNC machines within a department.
  • Assists in process development with engineers, quality technicians, supervisors and managers.
  • Performs maintenance of machines as required, identifies and informs manager of maintenance issues, and suggests new equipment needs to improve cell performance.
  • Collects data from the comparator, CMM, Trimos, or other gages to facilitate capability studies or other data needs to ensure quality.
  • Complete understanding of tooling layouts, operation sheets, and blueprints for the parts being run. (Includes Geometric Tolerancing)
  • Recommends alternatives when problem processes and an unsafe set-up practices are identified.
  • Work as a team member to aid all shifts and support personnel to operate to department standards including efficiency and quality goals.
  • Implements new machine technology within schedule
  • Develop machining process, including program, tooling, gaging and inspection procedures for new product development of machined parts.
  • Demonstrates leadership and facilitates teamwork throughout the cell, while encouraging a positive environment and communication style.

Minimum Years of Experience

High School diploma or equivalent. 2 year degree in Machining Technology or CNC Machining trade school preferred. Experience: PC Skills for Manufacturing, Measurement Skills for Manufacturing, Math for Machinists, Blueprint Reading for Machinists, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing lll. Requires a minimum of 5 years of CNC machine tool operation. Ideal candidate will have experience working on Index multi-spindle (6-8) machines. Demonstrated ability to read and understand CNC programs and operational layouts as required. Proven understanding of tooling requirements to set up and operate machines in the departments, including pre-setting of tools. Demonstrated ability to perform a sequence of operations under minimum supervision and consistently maintain the performance level set for quality and productivity. Demonstrated skill and use of precision measurements and Graco standards. Understanding of safety rules and regulations to prevent unsafe set-ups, operations or acts which might cause injury to self, others or environment. Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong mechanical aptitude. Must have strong PC skills and ability to work with Microsoft products.
