Job Description

Program and set up for most blocks and operate all types of CNC equipment.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Review assigned jobs and corresponding due dates.
  • Program jobs ahead of time per load requirements.
  • Review die designs. Understand how the die is producing the finished part before programming is started. Anticipate and correct problems.
  • Maintain CNC task manager, adding jobs and updating them as needed.
  • Document all pertinent information in the CAD then files for easy retrieval to reproduce the part as needed.
  • Play an important role in communicating with toolmakers and operators on what die components will be made in CNC or manually, always keeping cost in mind.
  • Solve problems (i.e., trouble with setting up block or creating new program).
  • Analyze the optimal way to program and set-up.
  • Operate CNC as needed.
  • Draw basic parts or related projects as needed.
  • Assume responsibility for Renishaw Probe, Tool set pot, Tool pre-setter and diagnostic calibrations of the equipment, where applicable.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner, complying with safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.

Promptly reports injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Makes regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement in safety.

Minimum Years of Experience

Graduation from high school (or equivalent) plus two years of technical tooling training. Minimum two (2) years’ directly related experience. At least two years of recent related mechanical and shop experience, of which a minimum of one year of related CNC experience, which includes the following skills and abilities: Working knowledge of the tooling process and CNC machinery. Working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in production tooling operations, which leads to efficient decision making whether to use a manual or CNC operation to be most productive to a specific application. Knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions. Ability to understand, follow and issue routine oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Salary or Hourly Rate

Competitive. 20% shift premium for 2nd shift. 30% premium for 3rd shift.
