Job Description

The Operations Manager will direct the school’s daily operational activities. This leadership position will ensure a successful balance of the organization’s mission of helping low-income young adults achieve self-sufficiency with operational productivity that meets business and financial goals.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Manage, plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of daily program operations to ensure effective implementation of all school policies and procedures.
  • Determine favorable ROI of donated vehicles; coordinate with instructors and mechanics to identify best possible use for all vehicles in support of program goals and budget.
  • Coordinate weekly auction sale activities to ensure accurate pricing, cost/repair decisions that meet weekly budget requirements.
  • Set and communicate short- and medium-term action plans to meet specific operational targets. Assist in developing longer term strategies.
  • Lead, coach, motivate and manage operations staff, including hiring, training, monitoring performance and developing team members. Create and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Ensure that accuracy and accountability measures are effectively maintained and that follow-up on actionable items is done in a timely manner.
  • Support student outreach and development goals, including program marketing and student interviews.
  • Create ways to maintain or improve quality of student experience through itinerary changes and interactions with instructors while working within established budgets.
  • Manage internal and external relationships (vendors, donors, other partners) to ensure long-term health of these relationships; negotiate contracts; mediate issues as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by executive management.

Minimum Years of Experience

• Minimum 5 years managerial/supervisory experience. • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle valuation methods. Working knowledge of vehicle mechanics preferred. • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive auction sales process. • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and work under pressure with deadlines. • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced, challenging environment. • Strong people skills, able to lead a team in a trade school environment. Previous educational or training experience preferred. • Possess and demonstrate core values such as mutual respect, professionalism, personal integrity, dependability, and commitment. • Confident, motivated self-starter who is results oriented, has excellent follow through skills and a desire for excellence. • Positive, enthusiastic, flexible and open to change attitude. Contributes positively to the company culture. • Detail-oriented, strong organizational and time management skills.

Salary or Hourly Rate

Compensation commensurate with work experience and qualifications.
