Job Description

As a Quality Inspector, you will ensure all parts manufactured, and purchased, by the company are in compliance with all dimensional, material, functional, and performance specifications as directed by the customer and/or internal policy. You will also assist in the administration and company-wide compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS). This position reports to the Quality Manager.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Conduct in-process inspection of manufactured parts ensuring strict dimensional compliance to the drawing
• Read and interpret drawings/blue prints to ensure compliance with material, dimensional, and performance standards
• Ensure drawings are to the most current revision and reference the most up-to-date standards
• Conduct final inspection of assemblies and sub-assemblies, prior to packing, to ensure material, dimensional, functionality, and performance compliance and manage material certifications
• Use measuring tools, both mechanical and automated, to ensure dimensional compliance
• Keep meticulous records for all inspections conducted
• Manage quality records to ensure lot and part traceability
• Inspect purchased material, both raw and finished, to ensure adherence to quality standards
• Assist with the instruction for reworking parts as required
• Quarantine non-conforming material in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Assist the Quality Manager with ensuring company-wide adherence to the QMS
• Conduct internal audits on functional areas, as directed by the Quality Manager
• Conduct first article inspections on new products and/or as required by the customer
• Advise Quality Manager on methods for improving product quality, design, and/or manufacturing processes
• Conduct product testing and verification of process
• Meet with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality challenges and issues as required
• Prepare quality-related reports
• Participate in problem solving activities
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Minimum Years of Experience

High school diploma with strong relevant work experience is required (working knowledge of hand-held measuring equipment and Optical comparators). Ability to perform inspections per control plans/inspection plans, validate and document results. Ability to operate precision measuring instruments in accordance with approved procedures. Ability to interpret visual and dimensional quality criteria to operators. Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings. Possess basic reading, writing, and math skills. Possess an understanding of basic statistical technique. Ability to operate inspection instruments. Basic computer literacy. Ability to read basic blueprints. Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO quality management systems. Demonstrate teamwork, attention to detail, problem solving, planning, and organization skills.
