Job Description

As a Roll-Off Container Driver, you will deliver and pick-up roll-off containers in and around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up roll-off containers
• Remain informed of local area road conditions, traffic, and detours
• Complete work orders on Android tablet for proper customer billing
• Understand and abide by the DOT hours-of-service regulations and communicate with Dispatch to ensure compliance
• Positively represent Veit on site and on road with customer service skills and courteous driving
• Communicate pickup or delivery changes or concerns on jobsite to Dispatch
• Communicate future jobsite leads to dispatcher or sales team
• Take pride in the appearance of assigned equipment by maintaining a clean interior and exterior
• Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections and communicate with mechanics to identify problems and schedule repairs
• Complete other projects or duties as assigned by management
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs

Minimum Years of Experience

High school diploma or GED required, along with six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. Hold a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) License. Possess a medical card for operating a DOT vehicle. Possess experience using email and electronic tracking or ability to learn new computer hardware and software. Ability to read maps, follow directions, and navigate with GPS. Ability to comply with all applicable safety precautions. Ability to follow all policies and procedures outlined in Veit’s safety training video and written manuals. Ability to follow specific directions for vendor pickup and deliveries. Possess a working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to driving truck and entering onto jobsites and personal property. Ability to work with mathematical concepts when needed. Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, management of all levels, and most importantly, customer and clients. Ability to learn mechanics of truck for automated tarping and proper procedure for manual tarping if needed. Ability to meet attendance schedule with on-time dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements. Must maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. Have union affiliation or willingness to take the necessary steps to join the union. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
